Catch cards prezi

Today we presented our game idea
We created a game that was based on throwing and catching, with the added element of word association, we wanted to keep in simple and interesting and go for an original idea.
We were given the task of creating a presentation of our game to showcase our idea and receive feedback from tutors and peers

and this was our prezi:

Today we finished filming our people on the move, it was our first film and i felt it went really well. I am looking forward to viewing them all and receiving our grade

Tuesday

Our Game

Today we came up with our game catch cards this is how you play:

Beginning
How do you know what to do?
Half of the game is just playing catch, the other element is the word linking game, where you have to understand what words link.
What type of experience is it?
I think its both chance and competition, you have to catch the ball but remember a word at the same time.
Middle
What raises the tension?
As the game progresses the tension will grow as the linking of the words get harder as you use more of them up and find it hard to think of a new word to use.
Why do I carry on playing it?
Its enjoyable, it doesn't require too much effort and someone will always want to win.
End
How do I know when its finished?
When all players have ran out of linking words and the last player standing is branded the winner.
Is there a winner?
Yes, the player who always finds a linkingword and doesn't drop the ball/runs out of forfeits wins.

We then user tested our game to receieve feedback on how it could be improved and if people enjoyed playing our game.

Thursday

Stop Motion

Today we filmed our stop motion, we decided to do a plate of beans that misbehaved when the consumer left the room by making the beans move around the plate ending the sequence with the beans spelling 'EAT ME'. This task took a good few hours as we decided to take two photographs each movement and we had to stop and start again as the camera ran out of battery.

Tuesday

Blogging on the go...

Just downloaded an app on my phone do I can blog on the go. I think I'll be more likely to blog now as I can upload instantly

Stop Frame..

The Medium is the Massage... Finished...

Reading Week..

This week we had no lectures, so i made my way home to the west midlands and sunny shropshire to sleep, shop, eat and catch up on work ofcousrse.....

Thursday

The medium is the Massage...

As a team we are developing our Wiki site and our Prezis..
here is my prezi so far..

Wednesday

Sequential Imagery

This is about how images link together, we looked at examples such a comics and graphic novels also still images such as Martin Parrs' New Brighton; a collection of images i have come across before within a level photography.
We were then asked to create our own sequence of 5 images portraying a story in twos. Me and my partner decided to convey a story about a girl who goes to a machine to buy and drink and some how ends up with a mars bar.

Monday

People On The Move..

We got set our second assignment within Production Practice module. The assignment is titled "People on the Move" we had to decide on a story to be filmed that had to include a sequence of characters moving from one location to another. In my group we have all combined our ideas and have come up with a storyline. When filming it i think we will develop and swap our ideas around and explore what works best for a film, but i think that what filming is all about.

Wednesday

Contemporary Media Issues

Our First Brief - working in small groups we have to examine a selected text and then using Wiki and Prezi we had to identify key points about the text to show our understanding of the text to a wider audience.

We have been given Marshall McLuhan - 'The Medium is the Massage"

Monday

Ellen Perry..

Today we met Ellen Perry, directer of the film Will. A film about Will, an orphan who journeys across Europe to watch his favourite football team. Ellen allowed us to ask her questions about her job, the film and her journey to where she is now. I felt this was good insight on a directors life.

Friday

The Automatic..

Today we got shown "The Automatic" -to be honest it was one of the most amazing class rooms ever. The place has sofas, spinny chairs, rocking chairs, sectioned off parts of the rooms with lots stimuli like lego, old apple computers and three large screens that are put together as one massive one. These screens make up this computer with many keyboards linked up with it so we could all input ideas anonymously, such a good way of coming up with ideas.

Todays lesson was about Edward de Bono we used his methods to come up with a new product to have within the Screen School, we got given cards with different images on to help up come up with ideas. Another activity we were given were the 'Brain box' - a box of scraps that had been collected and we had to come up with ideas from this. Another activity was a list of words that we had been given randomly and we had to come up with ideas with these words. For some reason i felt it was a lot easier for me to come up with ideas from the lists of words than from images or the brain box. For other people in my group it was different.

Today in Creativity and Concept...

We played with Post-it notes...
We got given the question: 'What would you change about this room if you had unlimited money and resources?' we had to think of as many ideas as we could and write them down on post-it notes then with a partner we had to decide weather they were ideas or concepts.
Together we came up with so many ideas and concepts including: having aquarium walls, comfy sofas to sit on in lectures, walls thats changed colour to suit what mood we were in, shisha pipes, open fires, robots to come to our lectures for it.. etc. Basically anything that made it possible for us to not come to lectures.
Over all i throughly enjoyed this lesson and it showed how creative my MPS class is.

Tuesday

Production Practice.. Our first assignment....

So today we got given our first assignment, a photo story board consisting of 20-30 photographs. For this assignment we have to develop a short storyline with a beginning, middle and an end that can be conveyed without dialogue while discussing this with my group we talked about how we could use costume, props and location to tell our story as it would be told through still images.
We drew up a storyboard for our storyline on a whiteboard, we decided to do a story about someone who would read their horoscope and it would tell them they would have a really good day but in the end they end up having a terrible day, falling over, missing their train etc to then find out it was yesterdays horoscope they had read instead.

Monday

Hello..

My name is Hayley, mainly known as Hayley Cakes.. and I'm studying Media Professional Studies at LJMU. So far my experience of media is that i did it at A-level, thoroughly enjoyed it and it was my strongest subject. Within the subject we created many media productions such a creating a magazine and a music video. Creating the music video was definitely my strongest assignment as me and my partner were in the smallest group of just a 2 instead of group of 4/5 and we managed to get the strongest marks in our class.

I decided to come to university this year before the fee's went up! I want a career in media, doing something in television or presenting eventually but before i do that i want to do a teaching course in Media so i can teach it in Australia when i finish university. In 5 years i would like to be living in australia teaching Media to Secondary school students.
Media i am most interested in is watching t.v and films like most teenagers and using social networking sites.
-I am a massive tweeter...
http://www.twitter.com/hayleycakesx and i do it mainly from my phone on the move.
