This is an update on our Tv studio work, i have been keeping a written diary where ive been noting down anything we did towards our production. i know i should be updating through my blog, especially as its the 21st centuarry but for some reason i find it far easier to hand write things like this than blog it! strange for a media student!
these are my notes from the last couple of weeks:
In our first workshop we had a go at learning the cameras and using the gallery i found useful and interesting and loved using the brand new equipment. it was quite nerve racking to begin with as we had never used anything like this before. it was good insight to working with my team for the first time too.
Our first task was to create a children's tv show making a paper aeroplane, for me the presenter i found it all very nerve racking and i kept forgetting what to say and do. under the bright lights of the studio you just seem to forget everything! i also found that it was difficult for me to be deaf in a way because everyone had Cannes on as they were on a camera in the gallery so they had constant communication whereas i didn't so i wasn't sure what was going on and it was difficult for me to receive any feedback.
We had a team meeting on deciding our tv show and began thinking who each of us could contact and what our first initial ideas were. after sharing all our ideas we agreed that Lois idea of a female boxer from Liverpool was a good show guest. we then went on to contact the owner of the boxing club and we waited for a reply.
we then had another workshop on cross shooting, showing us how we would shoot an interview. here we were given another task to shoot an interview using both presenters from the other team to interview each other. i felt that over all this went successfully and i also felt more confident in front of the camera as i wasn't by myself.
We had another team meeting and we came up with the name for our lunchtime tv show, we decided on 'Dejeuner' which means lunch in french. i came up with this name, just by simply googling lunch in different languages! i felt it fit with the brief that we had been set as channel four tries to be new and cutting edge and different and naming a english show a french name..what could be more different than that. we then also started designing the logo and finding chairs for the set, i had the idea of stealing the chairs from Starbucks as they were very modern and contemporary.
On monday night we arranged to met up with a female boxer at the liverpool boxing club. when we met we were really happy with her as she seemed really chatting and she new what she was talking about. however due to work commitments she had to find out if she was available to shoot our tv show as it was in the middle of the week on a working day which is inconvenient for many people.
Unfortunately we wasn't able to secure our female boxer and we had to go with our plan B, 2 male boxers we had previously contacted as a plan B and whom we knew was definitely available
